The initiative “CONEIXER EL TERRITORI" arises from the need to know the territory closest to us in order to be aware of the global world in which we live.

The Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Society is launching this project to approach young people in order to include them in the process of creating and transmitting scientific knowledge, based on knowledge of their environment (in a broad and varied sense). Considering that the usual channels of explanation (talks, excursions along the river) are not efficient enough, this project proposes collaboration with educational centres (through CEFIREs or other associations). The idea is to set up local projects, led by a university lecturer, together with a research group, which designs a strategy to highlight and present different cultural or environmental aspects of a specific territory within the province of Valencia. Classroom teaching resources are combined with participation through social networks, collaboration with cultural and environmental associations in the municipality or region, as well as with families.
